1. Infrastructure
Development: Colombia's Much Needed Stepping Stone
Summary:
Colombia,
South America’s 2nd largest country is expected to outgrow some of
its peers in 2014. But there are still weak infrastructures. Example, Metro
train system is lacked in Bogota. (the place that Colombia’s largest city.) So Colombia’s
government invests about it (transportation infrastructure).
Persuasive:
Colombia’s
GDP is lower that Korea’s GDP in 2013 IMF’s report. But Colombia is expected to
outgrow. I think that it is because Colombia’s government knows their lack
and they make an effort to change it. It is important that someone knows one’s
lack and solve it. It makes development.

Pablo Escobar’s hippos are
wreaking havoc in Colombia
Summary:
Colombia’s government fell into deep distress because of hippos. These hippos are not
animals that were not originally in Colombia. Hippos attacked the man so Colombian
military is dispatched to find and kill hippo. But some people say that we have
to protect the hippo.
Persuasive:
I
think if hippos don’t attack the man, military didn’t kill hippo. And I think if
hippos attack the people continuously, we have to kill them. It’s important
hippo’s life, but also important people’s life. And hippos aren’t live originally
in Colombia so we don’t need to protect them because hippo can destroy original
Colombia’s ecosystem.

Colombian
rebels attack Arauca oil camp
Summary:
On a camp in Colombian state of Arauca, oil workers and their relatives injured.
They
threw the explosive devices into the camp and the army blamed the attack. They
and Colombia government agreed that all of them want to conclude peace treaty
for this 5-decades-long armed struggle. But neither side has agreed to a truce.
Persuasive:
I
think they aren’t trust each other. They agreed to conclude peace treaty, but
they don’t act that. It is time to end the war and also they are run-down. I
cannot understand they have to be so violent. Violent is always wrong. I hope this
problem get an amicable settlement immediately.
